SPARKS Symposium - August 11 & 12, 2012
The Walper Terrace Hotel, Kitchener Ontario

Seeking Passion, Adventure, Renewal, Knowledge & Spirit

The Sparks Symposium was created out of a desire to bring holistic, health, lifestyle and wellness information to the Southern Ontario Region through a dynamic, interactive means. It is not a market/trade show nor is it strictly a conference. It is a forum through which to explore the creation of a healthy, inspired life presented by experts from varied fields and backgrounds.

Sparks bring kindling to flame, bring excitement to light and bring connections to fruition. The intent of the Sparks Symposium is that each lecture, workshop and activity can act as its own spark to inspire attendees to carry the flame back into their own lives.  Recognizing the power of the holistic model, the event is organized around energetic principles. Moving from the more physically focused events on Saturday morning through to more spiritually focused events on Sunday afternoon. Each of the 4 venues at the Symposium location allows for a different approach in presentation, from conference-type lecture to activity-friendly open space.

The symposium is a two-day intensive. Accommodations can be purchased in packages, a Symposium Pass is available for those not needing accommodations, or individual tickets for each day of the Symposium are available. Visit our Registration page for tickets.

SATURDAY NIGHT CONCERT
DAMH THE BARD!

From the U.K., Damh the Bard joins the SPARKS Symposium to share his magical stories through song. SPARKS Saturday night concert is free to SPARKS participants and $10 at the door for the public.

(Taken from his website)
Damh is a modern-day Bard whose spirituality, and love of folk tradition, is expressed through his music, storytelling and poetry. Drawing on the Bardic traditions his performances are both entertaining and educational, weaving a tapestry of myth, peace, and anthems that speak directly to the heart, but never without a good splash of humour. Damh is a musical storyteller who works within the world of myth that cannot be proved; where the Faerie really do dance on Midsummer's Eve, where the trees talk, and the Hollow Hills take you into the realms of Annwn. Where the Goddess rides her horse, guiding you to magic, and the Horned God of old calls us from the shadows of the Greenwood. So relax, and let the music take you there.

Damh the Bard (born Dave Smith) was obsessed by music from a very tender age. Regularly found by his parents singing at the top of his voice on his rocking horse to John Denver and Ralph McTell it soon became apparent what his life-long goals would be. He got his first guitar aged 8 years old, and was taught Irish folk by his teacher, a multi-instrumentalist Irishman by the name of Tim O’Leary. Dave played his first live concerts at the age of 11 in pubs on the Isle of Wight, and took his guitar to school at every opportunity to entertain his classmates.

As well as performing our Saturday night concert, Damh will facilitate two workshops! Check back for his schedule and topics.
